Character Biographies

Aristocrats

Aristocrats are "Primary" Colors: ie., red, blue and yellow only. They have never "mixed" with commoners and diluted their hair colors by doing so. A true Primary hair tone will never fade even with old age. All hair colors have traits that are for the most part dominant in every family. For instance:

  • Blue: easily frightened. Generally timid yet so good with people they are well-loved. They're the Administrators of the town.
  • Yellow: "eccentric". These people are the actors and 'beautiful people' that star in films and television shows.
  • Red: bold people. Usually very strong and love sports. Most Reds make up the "Color Gaurd", law enforcement of the town.
  • Orange (yellow + red): brash by nature, hot-headed and quick to make decisions that are sometimes bad or strange in nature. Many are bodygaurds for the upper class.
  • Green (yellow + blue): most greens become butlers to rich aristocrats or maids. They feel safe in the large mansions and the buildings offer them plenty of space to slack off and peruse strange hobbies when no one's paying attention. They love to gossip and are lazy by nature.
  • Purple (red + blue): can be summed up as a "bipolar" sort of nature. Purples can be bold at times and then suddenly make themselves sick with fear over trivial matters. They do many different jobs ranging from food service to flower arrangement, artists to teachers and such. Back when the town needed to grow reds pressured blues into marriages to build the population. This is why the town has so many purples. They're considered low class even among the lower colors.
  • Brown/black, etc (many colors): the bottom class. Their colors have been so intermixed that their hair isn't bright at all. Many-Colors, as they are sometimes called, make up the menial task force of the town. They are janitors, garbage collectors and so on.
  • White (abscence of color): these poor folks are shunned. They don't live in town but have their own tiny community someplace in the forests surrounding the area. Sometimes if a person is of low breeding their hair color fades with age. The most unlucky of these go completely white and take it upon themselves to move to the forest (where it is said some pairings of mixed colors live as well).

James Colorford: Blue; full name: James Johnathan Colorford. The head of all Primaries in town since his family is the "truest" color. 20 years old, 5' 7", small build. Wears glasses. James is scared of a lot of things, including his own shadow! He hates his "job" though he is good at shmoozing and filing, keeping track of people and judging cases in town. He'd rather be fishing.

Filly Colorford: Blue; full name: Ophelia Anne Colorford. Filly is only a teenager yet she is more mature than she sometimes acts. She's James' one true friend in the family and supports him in every way. Loves to ride horses.

Lorrie Colorford: Blue; full name: Lorraine Colorford. James' Aunt.

John Colorford: Blue; full name: Johnathan Colorford. James' Uncle.

Amanda Northcane: Blue; full name: Amanda Colorford Northcane. James' other cousin who married a Blue from the North. She's a snob and highly intolerant of "the lower classes".

Perry & Alison Colorford: Blues; James' deceased parents.

Hilda Redfield: Red; full name: Hilda Redfield.

Commoners

"Mixed" colors (such as if a red and a blue aristocrat were to run away and have a child together). Blacks, tans and browns are considered very low class and whites (no color) are shunned and live as outcasts outside of towns.

Mark Fuschi: Purple; full name: Mark Cedric-Michael Fuschi. 5' 10", strong build. He's heavily tanned from working out on the boards all day and often comes to work without a shirt. He's a friend of Elly's that works the Boardwalk close by her shop (he's a barker for a carny wheel). They spent a winter together in her house when she couldn't afford the bills alone. Nothing happened but Mark certainly did try several times. He's a playboy and loves women.

Bea Applegate: Green; full name: Beatrice Applegate. Bea is one of James' maids. Highly inquisitive and lazy by nature the mix of yellow (eccentric) and blue (frightened) turned her a little strange. She's considered a low member of the family and is allowed to address the Colorfords by title and name (Master James, Lady Lorrie) instead of just "My Lord/Lady".

Elly Sketchit: Purple; full name: Elly Sketchit. 5' 5", heavy build below, pale skin. Her great-grandparents were the Red and Blue that created her purple mix and their family has bred purple by purple ever since to keep the color as pure as possible. She's bold but can become easily worried about things. She's an artist and freediver that swims for items on the ocean floor and then creates jewelry and art from them to sell in her shop. Her parents suddenly left town to live in the White Community for some strange reason and she doesn't have much contact with them other than phone and computer.

White Villagers

The whites (no color) are shunned and live as outcasts outside of towns, up in the mountains. The farther up you go, the more degenerate the people. The first village is a quiet society with rules but higher up there are thieves, murderers, etc.

Camen Couslan: White; full name: Camriel Couslan. 5' 11", heavy build. He ties his long white hair back with rawhide thongs and sometimes braids two strips of it to hold the rest back from his face in a very "elf-like" manner. He's the lead hunter of the village. His nickname, "Camen", comes from the habits of a small reptile of the same name that floats with its eyes and nose just above water to simulate a log and catch prey. Camen does the same thing when he hunts and sometimes fishes. Due to his outdoorsy nature and vocation, he has many scars and even a chunk of flesh missing from one thigh where he sliced off a part of his skin to rid himself of a snake that had bit him in the woods.

Harry Istoult: Brown; full name: Harry Istoult. 5' 9", large build. The Record-Keeper in town, he files newcomer's petitions to stay and has the final word in a lot of important matters. He's loud and boisterous but he has a gentle heart under the gruff exterior.

Belle Istoult: Brown; full name: Belle Istoult. 5' 2", light build. The Record-Keeper's daughter, she puts on airs and thinks she has a "right" to whatever male she chooses in the village because she's the prettiest woman there.

Greg Dorman: Black; full name: Gregory Dorman. 5' 6", dumpy build (almost like a dwarf). Greg is almost always on lookout duty for the village when he's not chopping lumber.

Auntie Nolan: White; full name: "Auntie Nolan", that's all. 5' 4", dumpy build. Auntie is the village's "den mother", always looking after any children and all the new people. She mothers everyone excessively and impartially, and her cooking is known as the best in the whole town.

Susan Gatterling: White; full name: Susan Gatterling. 5' 7", medium build. Sue is one of the village's doctors.
